ROSITA C.YOUNGBLOOD
Principled. Proven. Progressive.
Rosita C. Youngblood has committed her life to public service. Representing the 198th Legislative District for more than 24 years, she is strong force in Harrisburg for progressive values. She is an independent voice for the people of Philadelphia, with the experience and integrity to do what is right for those she represents.
In fact, Rosita has been a force to be reckoned with in Harrisburg. And in 2014, she became the first black female to hold a leadership position in the history of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
Over her 12 terms in office she has:
Led the charge in holding "Stop & Go" establishments and nuisance bars accountable.
Sponsored legislation to raise the minimum wage.
Fought for more funding for education and human services programs that help our communities.
Established and strengthened the state's Kinship Care Program (Act No. 25 of 2003)
Protected consumers and the public from counterfeit products.
Further protected unwanted newborn babies by allowing police stations to serve as Safe Havens.
Advocated for common sense criminal justice reforms that reverse decades of discriminatory treatment.
As YOUR State Representative, Rosita will continue to Put People First and fight for the values that make Philadelphia the City of Brotherly (and Sisterly) Love.
When reelected, Rosita will:
HELP COMMUNITIES GROW
As Republicans continue to fight for big corporations and well-connected special interests, Rosita and her fellow House Democrats are fighting for families so we can grow our communities. We are fighting to make government work for you, not just the wealthy few.
GIVE ALL PENNSYLVANIANS A FAIR SHOT
Rosita and her fellow House Democrats have been working hard to ensure that all Pennsylvanians have an opportunity to succeed. We have supported legislation to raise the minimum wage, make sure the wealthy pay their fair share, and reform our broken criminal justice system.
ENACT RESPONSIBLE BUDGETING
Republicans continue to insist on blaming Philadelphia and its citizens for our state’s budget problems. And they continue to try and cut programs that are important to our communities. Rosita and her fellow House Democrats are fighting for responsible budget solutions that help our communities and that put People First.
